Same Idea but different problem

Ok, I just got a brand new computer and it came with WMP10 already
installed. No one here seems to know where the WindowsXP startup disc
went (or even if there was one), so we have no disc either.

Now I want to install WMP9 because quite frankly, WMP10 is horrible,
and I have nothing to roll back to. I have the installer for WMP9
already but it just keeps saying "Your version of Windows on this
Computer already contains a more recent version of Windows Media
Player. Windows Media Player 9 Series setup will now exit."

Is there any way I can get rid of WMP10 without the XP disc or a
previous version of WMP on the computer?

Go to the Microsoft Download Center. It might still be
possible to download Windows Media Player Ver. 9. It's
just a little bit over 13.6 MB. And for removal of WMP 10,
try going th rough the Add or Remove Programs applet; it
will be in the Windows Components section.

I did, but it only gives me the option to roll back to a previous
version on my computer, but there is none to rollback to.

I just checked one of the fresh Windows XP-SP2 installs we
just did. The included version of Windows Media Player was
9.00.00.3349. That is the version to which Windows Media
Player should roll back...unless there is an earlier version
of WMP 10 that had been installed over the original WMP 9.
