Crash Override

Hi, got a good one for you... clean install of XP with SP2 (slipstreamed CD)

The install goes perfectly, until I come to playing anything which is
windows media based.... then WMP crashes (wmp9 or wmp10) the codec must be
relatively ok, and the file ok as both play in nero showtime, it's just WMP
that struggles... any suggestions?
