media player just wont work

my windows media player was working perfectly fine until today when i
upgraded my computer to 512 mb of ram successfully....

none of my music and movies work under Windows media player 10 so every time
i try play my music, i have to play it under the extremely old version of
media player. i think its like version 6.0 or something...
it always says that i didnt install WMP10 successfully and i have to
reinstall.

i've already downloaded and installed wmp10 and wmp9 many times to see if it
works but no change..
im willing to try anything..

Go to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player delete the whole folder and
then try a fresh install do not use add or remove just go behind the scenes
and tear it out.
