Music Tasks not working in xp

In my My Music folder, none of the links such as "Play all" or "Play
selection" work. When I click on these links, nothing happens at all
actually. These links used to work until a few days ago. If I right click a
file or files, and select anything under that context menu such as Open or
Play, it works fine. WMP10 is my default player and I had this working with
WMP9 and WMP10 until recently

Have you changed something or installed anything in the last few days?
If not, go to Restore and restore your system, you can go back up to 90 days.
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.

This fix worked for me. If you have AVG virus software then it is the
contexthandlers from that which cause the problem. ie: R click on a file and
there is a menu item to check the file with AVG.

nothing may happen

Hi Dave, I have a similar problem..
Ever since I installed Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Media Player 10
won't work like it used to...
for example..
I get to www.amazon.com to listen to music previews from selected
albums..and when I use Real Player or Amazons player the sound clips work
great...but as soon as I select Windows Media Player..it automatically
directs me to an alert saying do I want to save this file..then I have to
keep doing this over and over again to listen to all the clips I want..
To say the least it is very annoying, and when I do play the saved sound
clip (WMP 10) the audio is way distorted like a poorly tuned radio station.

Anyone have any helpful suggestions? (besides not using Windows Media Player
altogether)..let me know.
Thanks
Eileen
