Hi
I have three PCs all running Windows XP Home Edition SP2. One has Windows
Media Player Version 10 installed; the other two have Version 11.
When I connect my Samsung mp3 Player (model YP-U3) to either of the two
computers with WMP11 the device is recognised by name and appears in Device
Manager as a separate entry. It is not recognised by the third PC with
WMP10; when connected to the USB Port it tries to connect and then
immediately disconnects and no entries appear in Device Manager when plugged
in.
No software or drivers have been installed for the Samsung Device on the PCs
at present as mp3 music files can be dragged and dropped into the Samsung
device which suggest that drivers for this device exist as part of the
Microsoft OS or WMP.
I am not sure whether the inability of the third PC to recognise this device
is to do with Windows Media Player or whether drivers to recognise it as a
device player are part of a Windows Update. Can anyone suggest a reason for
this anomoly?
