Katie Grant needs help!

HELP ME PLEASE!! I dont know what I'm doing and this video must be edited by
tonight. Every clip is in MPG format. I already tried to download and install
the codec by going to options..general..download codacs automatically. I just
want to import the clips but it keeps telling me this...

"The file \\Generaladmin\videos\Morton Video\M2U00755.MPG cannot be imported
because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your
computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close
and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again."
