WMP changing track data on playback

I have two problems with WMP, I hope someone can come up
with what is causing them.
(1)WMP opens a data disc containing .mp3 files OK.
Initially (for all of two or three seconds) it will
identify the track titles and artist, then it changes all
of them to "audio track 1", "audio track 2" etc. Other
players do not seem to do this.
(2) Playing these tracks I encounter 1 sec pauses every
now and again, never in the same spot, seems to be the
same with audio CD's. Running P4 1.8 Ghz with 1GB RAM.
Watching system resouce meter I am seeing spikes while
playing music.

Do the track names return subsequently? I've seen one or two other
reports of this with audio CDs. Also, does it ever occur with files on
your local drive?

No, works just fine from local drive....no pauses either
(so far). Once WMP has changed the tracks to "audio
track" the correct data can not be re displayed.
Also "pauses" or glitches do not seem to happen as often
with a normal CD.

Try using the Find Album Wizard to look up the correct details. You are
lucky that it can't alter the metadata in these particular files, as it
has been known to do so with local files.
