WMP 9 Lockup

Ben Nelson

I have a customer who is having problems with Windows
Media Player on their Windows 2000 Professional (SP4)
system, configured as follows:

Pentium III - 700 MHz
512 MB RAM
Hitachi 8X DVD-ROM
CRTV-4780 Audio Card
Unknown V.90 Data/Fax/Voice Modem
ULTRA 32MB AGP 2X Graphics Card
IBM 13.6 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

When playing back .ASF files from CD, following an ASX
playlist, it plays the first (or first few) entries fine.
After the first few clips though, the video disappears and
the audio plays through the end of the clip. Once the
audio finishes, the entire computer stops responding, and
has to be rebooted.

I'm going to have him check his audio and video drivers,
but if anyone else has some insight into this, I'd
appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Ben
