Wireless ICS

Hi Group

After a bit of assistance in the problem I have.....

I have a PC connected to the broadband internet via a usb modem (not cable).
I have added a NIC to the machine and a wireless router so I can connect
another 2 Pc's for the internet (not file sharing) wirelessly. I have
bought a dongle for each machine and loaded drivers as normal. Now the
problem starts.....The dongles pick up the wireless connection and connects,
the signal, signal strength and everything are there but every time I open
IE it keeps coming up page not found etc. and just will not connect to the
internet.

Now, I have set these up before and usually it's just a case of plugging the
router in, plugging the dongle in and hey presto everything works but on
this occasion it's just not happening. I've turned off all firewalls etc,
ticked the 'automatically detect settings' box under the LAN connection tab,
but still no joy.

Anybody have any ideas or point me in the right direction.....

Thanks

Not enough information, but if you want to use ICS in this scenario, try:

1. On the PC Make sure ICS is enabled only on the USB connection.

2. On the PC if XP configured a bridge between the USB and the NIC
connection, delete the bridge.

3. Make sure the PC's NIC is connected to a LAN port on the router - not
the WAN/Internet port.

4. Turn off DHCP service on the router.

Note you could connect the PC's NIC to the router's WAN port, configure DHCP
for something other than 192.168.0.x, and it might work. However, this
creates a double NAT situation which sometimes does not work well or at all.
