For about the same price you can purchase a new wireless router to
replace your existing wired one.

Note that even the older 802.11b wireless networking is going to be as
fast or faster than most cable or DSL Internet services, although if
you also want to transfer huge files between the laptop and the other
PCs you might appreciate the faster speeds of 802.11g wireless.

Good luck

I agree with Ron, as this is exactly the setup I've used in the past; use a
wireless router and you can have both hardwire connections and wireless at
the same time. And it works a lot better than messing around with ICS. You
just route your modem directly to the WAN port on the router, and use it for
a hub, allowing it to automatically assign IP addresses to any computer on
your network, wired or wireless. Their are other ways to do this, of course,
and I am no expert by any means, this is what I have found that works very
well for me with my limited skills. HTH
