WinXP locked up

Hello
My WIN XP notebook is locked up but I can't turn it off or
restart. It just sits there saying it's going to
hybernate. It's plugged in right now. I tried to turn it
off; I tried the ALT/CTR/DEL; I closed it; I don't know
what to do.
Please help.
