Here it is.
I have an HP pavilion xt375 laptop.

I boot my laptop. I get the Microsoft Windows XP logo and
nothing else. No password prompt, no list of users that can
login, nothing.
This started after I let my laptop go into Hibernation mode
while it was connected to a wireless network.
After it went into hibernation, I took it somewhere
else(away from a wireless network), and when I tried to
start it up from Hibernation mode, it would not start up
any further than I mentioned above. powercycling, booting
from last good config, hitting the reset button, even
booting to safe mode yeilds the same results.

Any ideas?

I know this is a little late, but I had the same problem, and resolved
it by following this:

I have an xt178, and have had harddrive issues intermitently that on
at least 2 occassions have caused the laptop to no longer load windows
properly. This last time I had the exact same problem as you
described. The only common threads to these problems appear to be that
hibernation mode, and/or turning the laptop on while there is a cd or
dvd in the drive have a much higher incidence of causing error
messages to appear in the event log. The error most common is:

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D.

I'm guessing that this either a driver issue, or a design problem, but
it's getting a bit frustrating as I don't like having to worry about
my system failing simply because I left a CD in the drive or let it go
into hibernation mode.

Hope this either helps, or you've already fixed the laptop.
