Resume from Hibernate hangs

I have an HP Laptop with XP Home SP2. I use a Logitec wireless mouse which
has a USB receivier.

If I unplug the USB receiver, and then hibernate the system, then I never
have a problem resuming.

However, if I hibernate the system, then unplug the USB receiver for the
mouse, then the system will hang when I resume from the hibernate. It seems
the only way to resume is to plug the USB receiver in before I resume.

Is this the intended behaviour?

others might chime in .....I would say yes

when a USB device is plugged/unplugged...windows has to recognize its state
, it may not be able to do this when hibernating

so if you unplug the mouse while in hibernation it still thinks there is one
there and tries to use it when it wakes up.

make sense ?

Hibernate STORES the system state on the HD. It reads it back in when
you start it back up. Removing hardware and then waking it up IS going
to cause a problem. Intended, NO, expected, YES.
