WindowsXP security updates

I have WinXPpro SP2 on a CD, but i read that it should only be installed
after installing all the other various security updates from the MS windows
update site.

I don't want to connect to the Internet until windows has been fully
updated, but I can't fully update unless I connect to the Internet first.

Can I get the other security updates on a CD?

The information you have is incorrect. All updates prior to Service Pack
2 are included in Service Pack 2. Make sure your computer is properly
prepared before installing SP2. Here are links to help you:

As mentioned in the other reply, you don't need to install the previous
updates.

You can get SP2 on CD if you want here (absolutely free, you don't even pay
shipping)...
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx
It's also available for free at some stores (I think Staples had it.)

If you don't have a SP2 CD, your computer will be in a very vulnerable state
without the patches and its possible that you'll be infected before you have
a chance to download it. If oyu don't have a hardware firewall like a
router, make sure you enable the built-in XP firewall immediately (all
versions of XP have a basic firewall available, although it gets improved in
SP2) and don't browse the web except to get the service pack.
