Automatic Update not Working

I have been reduced to using the Widows Update Site to get security opdates
since early October. Though Automatic Updates seems to be fully turned on,
it doesn't seem to detect updates. I have tried fully automatic download and
install, download and notify me, and notify me when updates are availablr to
dowload and install. No luck! I have Windows XP SP2...

Hi,

Recently I had a problem with AU after i removed Norton Anti virus from my
computer using a special tool. Searching internet I found a website
mentioning that running this command might help: Run > regsvr32 initpki.dll .
I do not know what this does ( I hope someone react on this) but it repaired
the automatic update which was not working anymore.

Thanks...I think I'll hold off on trying the suggested command for a while to
see if anyone explains what it means/does.
