When I turn on my computer the following message appears
"Windows could not start up because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system
you can attept to repair this file by starting windows setup using the
original setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair"

So I inserted the disk pressed f12 to get the boot menu. Then went to enter
setup, then boot,CD-ROM/DVD drive, press any key 2 boot from CD. The setup
files then load. the welcome to setup page appears. There is an option "to
repair a windows xp installation using recovery console, press R.So I press
r.It says
"1:C\WINDOWS
Which windows installation wouldyou like to log on to" it requires a one
letter/number answer. What is this? it then says "C:\WINDOWS>".Which command
should I give here? Also any other suggestions on how I can get my computer
working would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in addvance j
