Windows XPE with a PS2 barcode scanner

Hello,

we have the problem that we cant use a PS2 barcodescanner with our Windows
XPE terminal.
It seems that Windows needs a keyboard driver for it. We have no problems,
if we plug a keyboard in and use then the scanner.
Is there a way to use it without a keyboard (we manged it to use it with
Windows NT over the device manager....created a new hardware profile)?

Depending on the brand of scanner, you should have a good look at the
configuration manual for the barcode reader. Barcode readers used in
line with the keyboard are "transparent" to the computer but brands
such as metrologic for example have a mode which is Standalone mode I
think it is called. This mode serves to terminate the keyboard thereby
allowing the computer to "see" it. That would be my first step.

Cheers
