Hi-

In my security updates from Microsoft, they ask what my
operating system is- I know I have Windows XP home edition
but am confused when choosing the exact operating system
(XP gold, XP 64-bit,XP gold w/ service pack 1, 2000).
Where might I find further info about this on my pc-
my system info does not state anything further. I have a
8200 Dell desktop purchased in February 2002.

Thank you- linda

Linda,

You have either XP gold or XP gold w/service pack 1.

Three ways to determine if you have SP1:

1. Right-click "my computer" and click "Properties". The "General" tab
will or will not say "Service Pack 1".

2. Go to windowsupdate.microsoft.com and scan for updates. SP1 will be
offered as an update if you do not have it.

3. Click "Start". If below "Control Panel" you see "Set Program Access and
Defaults" then you probably have SP1.
