windows XP

my computer is automatically restarting, a small window
pops up giving me a minute to save everything and when it
finishes counting down my computer restarts. I'm thinking
that this isn't a good thing and i'm worried also about
every time my computer starts windows can't find certain
files. I'm worried that i have a virus. can someone fill
me in on what might be my problem.

The only time my WinXP behaved like that was when we had a power failure and
my UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) software warned me that it would be
shutting down in five minutes.

You don't suppose you've somehow installed some Trojan or other malware, do
you? What kind of antivirus software are you running? Please don't say
"none"!
