Hi All:

Got an inherited PC with XP Pro. Attempted to install Scrabble and got an
error message. Upon restarting the PC XP fails to load. Attempts to load in
safe mode, safe mode with prompt, previous configuration or normal all fail.

Here's the problem. I don't have the XP disc to boot from. What are my
options?

Hi,

Go get an XP disk, as you will need one to boot the Recovery Console and
restore a registry backup. Use the process described here:

As Nutcase said, you do need to boot to the recovery console.
If you cannot get access to a CD, then you can download Boot Flopp
disks from the Microsoft Website at:
http://tinyurl.com/6y6m9

Just select your OS and SP version and you should be good to go
however it does require 6 floppy disks. Save the EXE file to th
computer then run it, and you should be fine. Make sure you use
computer with a legitimate copy of Windows to download the EXE file a
the site scans the PC to verify it is a legitimate version befor
allowing the download to begin.

Good Luck

Without the actual Cd for the Os, your options are limited to as follows:

1) Run down to your local high street and buy a retail version of Windows XP professional for $200;
2) Search using Google for OEM software and buy online OEM version for less than $50;
3) Find a Sunend who can copy the media for you for $20 (I can do for you! - I am MVP alright as my title says! and I hate Micky Mouse Stevens- this goes without saying!);
4) Go to your Sunday Market and buy from a pirate for $20;
5) Download from the following sites:
http://www.kazaa.com
http://www.warez.com
http://www.serialarchive.com
6) Break into Jupitor Jones' house and nick from him even if this means you need to knife him!

Hope this proves useful!

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.
