Windows XP RTM support on windows update ending

I started Internet Explorer and was put into an automatic visit to the
Windows Update site. On the site, and information window told me that
Windows XP RTM support was ending and gave me a "Learn more" link that takes
me to some life cycle page with no information about whatever the devil RTM
is in the first place or why Microsoft is dropping support on automatic
update. If Microsoft is going to mess over me or not mess over me is the
question. What is RTM and why aren't y'all going to support me?

As an aside, why are the explanatory pages for display names and read more
about why I am broadcasting my IP address all over creation not available?
Doesn't boost my trust in your privacy policy worth a hoot.

Peter;
RTM = Release To Manufacturing.
The original Windows XP as shipped 3 years ago was RTM or Gold.
If you have SP-1 or SP-2, that message about RTM does not apply to
you.

As for your second question, I am not sure I understood.
But your IP must be transmitted if you want anything such as a website
back.
Not providing an IP is not much unlike calling a business and
requesting information but refusing to give an address or phone
number.

to Service Pack 1 or 2, you're behind in installing the latest
critical updates for Windows XP.

SPs are supported for 2 years after the following one is released. The
RTM version is the original XP version without any service packs. SP1
was released in 2002. Two years have passed so update support for the
RTM version has ended.
