Windows XP RTM

I have seen MS is going to stop supporting windows update for Windows XP
RTM. I just want to get something straight, I have a RTM version but has SP2
installed, so would the issue of no windows update support apply to me?

RTM is Windows without *any* Servie Packs. You have SP2 so you are not in
the 'unsupported' category.

No. It only applies to those who have Windows XP installed with no SP at
all - no SP1 and no SP2. If you have at least SP1 then your version of
Windows XP will still continue to be supported via windowsupdate. As you
have SP2, you are fully supported.

So if you performed a clean installation with a RTM disc then you would be
affected because you would have no service packs, so I would suggest to
slipstream a service pack to you RTM disc.

Good point. Many of the critical updates are available elsewhere at
Microsoft, as is the latest SP. Having a slipstreamed disk certainly makes
the process much easier, but it is still possible to update an RTM install
without one.

Or have a SP2 CD to hand to run as the first thing after a reinstall

A brave person would have searched the group looking for RTM and
notice this question has already been asked and answered several
times.

I guess you aren't that brave person.

Shame.
