Windows XP Pro

My HP laptop PC fails to boot up. It comes to screen MS
Windwos XP screen (Like wide screen) and never moves
beyond the screen. This is the third time happening in
last two years. On previous occassions I re-installed
the OS from 7 disks one after the other. Is it the only
option? Can anyone help. Please let me know.

Hi,

If you press F8 after the initial post and before WinXP begins to load, are
you able to get the boot menu and run in Safe mode?

Thanks for your post. I tried in Safe mode. Again it
went to windows logo screen and don't move beyond that
screen.
Help appreciated.

Ok, so had you done anything to the system prior to this? Like running some
spyware cleaner programs or Windows Update?

From that same boot menu, are you able to load "safe mode with command
prompt"?
