Windows XP Pro CD Missing a7b1nlz.sys

Hello,

I've recently purchased a copy of windows xp professional service pack 2.
Today i attempted to upgrade my copy of windows with this cd however i get
the error that the file a7b1nlz.sys could not be copied as it is missing. It
offers me the option of skipping, retrying or exiting. Retrying does not work
and if i skip the file, on reboot i simply get the same error and therefore
cannot upgrade my copy of windows.

Any help would be greatfully apprectiated.

Many thanks

I have a suggestion, see if it helps you. Copy the entire CD contents as it
is to a new folder and run the installation from there. If any file on CD
will corruptted then copy command will fail, which means you need to replace
the CD.

Hope this help, let us know!

Hey thanks for the speedy reply!

I tried copying the entire contents to a new folder however the problem
still remained. Therefore instead, I chose to perform a new install on
another partition. ONly problem now is moving all my installs from the old
partition to the new one...this is long

Thanks again

If the CD is being copied properly then why you are attempting to install a
Clean Installation. Doesn't matter where you copy the CD's file, you can
still Upgrade. Don't need to move your data. If you think after a Clean
Installation you will able to move your current programs to XP then it is not
possible. You have to reinstall all of them seprately in Windows XP too. So I
will advise you if CD is being copied properly then you should try an upgrade.
