windows xp pro causing freezing.

i have windows xp pro on my computer. i have experienced
major freezing lately, and it started after i began
installing windows updates. i was told to set optimized
defaults in the bios and check memory, both were ok. so
what could cause this? anyone else have this problem? i
have run xp in the past without problem, so this is new.
any help is appreciated. ([email protected])

its happening to me for msn explorer and I.E.
is it a bug? or do i reinstall xp service pack 2?
