Windows XP Freezes

Hello,

I started to have a nasty issue with Windows XP lately. It seems that it
freezes every time I start a new application. For example, everything I start
(including My computer and so on), windows freezes for 30 seconds or more (i
can still alt-tab to old applications running) and after the newly run
application starts and comes up.

I am using Microsoft Windows XP Professional. I am connecting to a domain
controller, I have admin rights on the computer. I've already tried to stop
the spoolsv process and any uncommon processes that may cause this but still
no luck. I want to mention that I have Landesk security suite installed but I
had this for 4 months and this issue came up from last week.

I don't remember doing any updates to Windows or installing new software. It
is just the same as it was before.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. Look in Event Viewer for clues. Start>Run>eventvwr.msc [enter]

2. How full is the hard drive? Have you or your IT Dept. been
maintaining the computer regularly?

3. What is the virus/malware status of the machine?

4. If all of the above doesn't help, do some hardware troubleshooting.
Start with the hard drive and the RAM.
