Something has infected my computer. When I turn it on I get a screen that
looks like the sign on screen to MSN.com and am prompted for a password. I
have not had or used MSN.com for quite some time and have no idea what
password may work. I can't get past this screen to use my computer. I did
get into the files using a disk and moved the information I don't want to use
onto a D drive partition. I am thinking of trying to relaod the operating
system but I will have to buy one as the computer only came with it on the D
drive and HP is no longer offering a disk. Any ideas before I shell out a
few hundred dollars for another operating system?

I just did what you are talking about. When the computer boots up, there is
a 3 second period where you can hit F11 and do a reinstall. This is what I
did, because I also don't have any disks. I went to the button that said
"advanced", and then reinstalled creating a backup. It puts everything back
the way it came from the factory. It worked great!!! Now I just have to
figure out how to get my backed up files back in the programs!! Good luck.
