Windows XP Freezing

I have a problem with Windows XP freezing. Every so
often it simply stops and I have to reboot.

Well due to other circumstances, I had to reformat my PC
and reinstall XP. XP and SP1 and SP2 does not freeze my
machine. But after I've downloaded all the updates my PC
freezes.

Any one experiences this problem? Do you know which
update might be causing it?

Do you mean SP2, do you have a pre-release ?

Thanks for the feedback and the URL. The URL just takes
me to a number of options none that seem to deal with XP
freezing.

I've got XP pro that I then update with SP1 and SP2.
That's fine. It's the rest of the updates that seems to
cause the freeze.

Well no, if you have a beta sp2 then it may well be conflicting with
whatever you are downloading from windows update.

How would I know what version it is? I got it ages ago
on CD from Microsoft. It doesn't mention that it's the
beta version.

The official release of SP2 is not until the middle of next year.
