Windows XP Explorer Annoyance

When I launch Windows Explorer the Status bar never displays. Is there a
way that I can force Windows Explorer to display the Status bar
automatically to save my having to enable it from the view menu?

Try setting it, then closing Windows Explorer right away - then open it
again.
