Windows XP Corrupt spoolsv.exe

Dear All

I have an XP laptop that will not print to an HP deskjet USB printer, yet if
I set the setting to "print directly to printer" it works fine.

I have stopped and restarted the print spooler service - no joy
I have removed and reinstalled the printer - no joy

Is anyone able to offer any wisdom please?

I'm using a Canon portable printer (with my PC) while mine regular printer is
being repaired. I have had no problems until this AM. My first attempt at
printing, produced no results or error messages. When I investigated I found
that the print Spooler Service had terminated unexpectedly. There were no
recommendations to repair. I just pulled the computer connection and it
reinstalled automatically. I cleared the print que, ordered a new print, got
it. Then ordered a different print and have had 3 subsequent terminations
and nothing I have tried, like you, will get my printer online and working
again.
I'm getting ready to run some errands and am going to turn the computer off
and leave the printer unconnected throught the reboot; reinstall it, and see
if that works. I'll let you know if that works or not.

If not, want to help me holler for help?

We''re more alike than different.

Hey Jude

Thanks for the reply. How have you got on so far as I still have the same
problem. I'm not sure we have got exactly the same issue as the print spooler
service on my laptop appears to be "started" and running OK - but not if that
makes sense.

Hope you can help

Thanks

JP
