Recently my Dell 8250 running Windows XP home decided not to logon
automatically. The computer is 3 years old and last year had a new hard drive
installed because the original one went kaput. I asked another newsgroup for
help and they suggested I download and use Tweak UI -- which I did. Still
can't get it to automatically log on. I put in a password too. Now when I
start up my computer instead of it going directly to my desktop, I get the
message "Windows is Starting up" then another message "The system could not
log on. Make sure your user name and domain are correct, then type your
password again. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case." I
click OK -- a Log on to Windows box opens and shows user name, no password --
I click OK and the computer starts. It's a pain in the neck to constantly go
thru this process when before I only had to start up my computer and was
taken directly to the desktop. How can I get that to happen again? Any help
would be appreciated.
