Good morning,

Does anyone else feel they were robbed by purchasing Windows Vista Ultimate?

I mean seriously now, all I heard prior to release was about these fantastic
extras which Ultimate users would be able to install thanks to the Windows
Ultimate extras feature under Windows update.

Ok now lets count the number of Ultimate Extras released thus far. Left hand
up, Bitlocker, Dreamscene, Hold-em poker, hmmmm..... I cant think of any
more!

Come on Microsoft, you are being ridiculous. If you want people to carry on
buying the top of the range product and giving them nothing extra for the
huge extra amount of money!

Come on, get with it!

I like Windows Fax & Scan after upgrading to Ultimate. I can scan wirelessly
and that feature alone cost $50 using 3rd party software.

"My Windows Business has Fax and Scan"

Well my Home Preminum did not come with Fax & Scan. I did'nt know it at the
time but I know now.
Ultimate also has bit blocker but I understand you need to partition the HD
before installing Vista to use it.

Based upon Microsoft's promises regarding Ultimate Extras I decided to
purchase Vista Ultimate. Microsoft has failed to live up to the promises
made.
I would not have purchased Vista Ultimate had I known then what I know
today. My sole reason for purchasing Ultimate was the Ultimate Extras as I
was upgrading from Vista Home Premium. I neither need nor desire any of the
other features included with Ultimate that were not included in Home
Premium.
I have read comments such as "Ultimate Extras will be released sometime
in the future when new, more advanced hardware becomes available." In my
opinion that is nothing but a lame excuse. I'm not a developer but I'm sure
there are several "Ultimate Extras" that could be developed and used with
the existing available hardware. If this advanced available hardware is
released at the same time or after the next Windows version is released I
certainly would have waited until that future time.
I may be incorrect but I feel Microsoft has abandoned Ultimate Extras
in favor of devoting their development and research efforts to the next
version of Windows.
Yes, I feel that I was robbed.

IT is clearly a case of False Ads. The extras some of you refer to are
included in other versions of vista. Ultimate was sold as the version
combining all of the features of both Home Premiun and Business version. IE:
Fax and Scan is in the business version as was mentioned in a previous post.
Media Center is in the Home Premiun.

Therefore buyers were led to believe that these items you have discussed
were additional features. The extras were promised as add-ons to come in the
future, which combined with the features of all the other versions was the
reason you really should buy ultimate. A poker game which I can buy for nine
dollars at the local store is not what was promised.

This is like a car saleman convincing you to buy a car for a thousand more
than an identical model, just on the pitch that you will get a lot of extras
as soon as the factory makes them, and they never come.

With MS moving up the next Windows version to a 2009 release and moving
people off vista ahead of schedule they have quitely admitted that they do
not intend to spend a lot of money delivering on Vista.

IF you think we lost compability with a lot of previous hardware and
software between XP and Vista, The next version may force wholesale hardware
replacements on people running the mid to lower tier systems on Vista.

If microsoft does not start delivering on their markiting, I might consider
Switiching my entire Coorporation to Linux servers and Desktops. We have had
a lot of issues with the server versions. Eash new one comes out and I listen
to the sales pitches, but we never get what is promised. It seems in todays
world the goal is to make the sale and the hell with service. Sell then a new
version every two years with so called fixes. If I ran my business the way
microsoft does, I would not be in business. Many of my piers who own other
companies are have the same thoughts about microsoft.
