Windows Vista mail problem

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can help with vista e-mail - Home premium edition
32-bit...... when I send an e-mail it goes directly into my outbox without
being sent. I click on Send/Receive but nothing happens. If I then close
down windows mail, as I re-open it the mail then gets sent as normal. I have
no problem receiving messages.

I have downloaded the 32-bit version update and tried the 64-bit version
(says not applicable to my system) but this has made no difference. I am
using PC Tools firewall plus and avast anti-virus protection.

Any ideas as to the fix? Many thanks,

Dave

See if this helps: In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Options, then
Send. If there's no check mark in the box before Send messages
immediately, click on this box, then Apply. Click on OK.

I have the same problem. I have the Send Messages Immediately box ticked but
it still doesn't sent till I re-open Windows Mail. I also have no problem
receiving messages.

When you installed Avast, during the install phase did you select
custom install, which then allows you to deselect the email scanning
module.

I suggest you uninstall Avast, reboot, try Windows Mail again, and
then reinstall Avast as described above.
