Windows Vista Fax Features.. (Wish-list..)

Hi all..,
I am a "fax software enthusistic" and "ms office beta tester" from Turkey..
I have searched the internet for million times to find best "PERSONAL FAX
SOLUTION" which would tightly integrate with ms outlook as unified messaging
inbox. But there is no.. I have downloaded and tested more than a hundred of
fax software but not satisfied.. There are a few software vendors those suply
very weak integration with ms outlook finally causing many incompatibility
problems. Only ms exchange server based enterprise fax systems include this
outlook integration even voice and sms.

Always I hope ms would release this fax software for painless outlook
integration. But dissappointed in every new release. (Really I miss Ms At
Work Fax even it's AWD file format)

Anyway, I could not have enough time, ram and disk space on my computer to
download and install ms vista os to test its fax service. Is there anybody
tested it?

I have found ms vista's fax console screenshot on ms's website based
following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/features/forbiz/faxscan.mspx
which looks some functional than xp's buit-in fax service. Obviously you
will see a simple (e-mail like) send dialog box with a menu bar??!!! ( does
"insert menu item" mean that we will be able to add multiple files into one
fax message ?) But seperated rich text pane shows that we will not be able
send a direct fax from outlook message "without a blank fax page". is it?
What other features you have tested? Really I wished it to receive faxes
from "memory fax modems" such as usr message modem. (these modems don't need
the pc turned on while receiving faxes. they have some built-in memory
modules to receive 50 pages of faxes. when you turn on your pc, fax software
takes the faxes into its interface.)

Finally, I believed that third party software vendors will not produce any
"unified messaging" solution for persons or small networks. Therefore ms can
consider to produce a unified messaging solution for home office networks or
individuals. This fantastic software pack basicly can contain fax (via
internet or modem), voice mail and sms messaging communications. If you
learnt about mapi, you may know how this is easy to manufacture.
Or as a power user may I prepare a wishlist to build a platform?

Microsoft has actually provided less and less support for fax and modem
related functions as windows has evolved. Perhaps this was due to the
screaming and yelling about MS's market dominance. In any event, I would
expect more business/office related capabilities to migrate from individual
user ops systems to the small business server/workgroup software.

Good third party fax software is not cheap! Mediocre software seems to be
what is in the practical price range of individuals. Evidently there isn't
enough money to be made in the fax software market to justify the cost of
new software development.

I agree. I haven't seen Vista yet either, but from my observations of MS Fax
software over the last 10 years, I'd guess it will be gone completely for
the end user by then. I do know that future versions of Outlook will no
longer support it.

It would be really nice if someone would step up to fill this void that
Microsoft is willingly creating. Fax is not disappearing no matter how
antiquated it may appear. I dare anyone to try to settle an insurance claim
without faxing. Can't be done.
