Windows updates

I recently reformatted with windows xp professional.
Everything was working great until I installed the sp2
critical updates from the microsoft update webpage.
After these installations the computer would frequently
freeze during a number of different application and
sometimes while just at the desktop. I fixed the problem
by uninstalling the updates.

How can I add these updates without causing this
problem???

Matt, just stick with the Critical Updates.
