Windows Updates Drivers

M

Martin Racette

Hi,

I have a little problem with WindowsUpdate, everytime that I go check for
updates I 2 NVidia driver (I have a motherboard with Nvidia chipset, and a
TI4400 videocard), but I have more recent drivers installed, how come
windowsupdate still list those outdated driver, if I have already installed more
recent, directly from the Nvidia web site

OR how can I configure the Windows Update to not show me these updates ?

Thank you in Advance

Merci a l'Avance

When you update from MS, installation data is recorded and kept. When you
update elsewhere the installation data is not recorded and kept. Since Nvidia
updates are supported by MS don't update from the manufacturer unless
absolutely necessary. IE. the update will eventually be available via MS. You
can try installing from MS, then, update from the manufacturer. But,I haven't
tried this so don't know if the installation logs will show the MS update as
being installed.

I'm all for f*cking with the French, but you have given about the
dumbest advice I've seen this year.

Never update your drivers from MS, ESPECIALLY VIDEO DRIVERS. MS uses
very minimalist video drivers, the one from the Manufacturer are the
better drivers.

Just ignore all drivers that MS offers by MS on WinUpdate.

NO.
I've had big problems with the NVIDIA driver supplied by
ms update. Use the latest driver from NVIDIA.com.
AVOID the nvidia update from MS.

Talk about dumb and stupid advice. One of the reasons the update is still at
the manufacturer is because it has NOT been tested and approved by MS. My
advice stands. Don't update unless necessary. Get your updates from MS after
they have been approved. You are a self anointed spreader of bad advice not
moderator. WAKE UP.

As long as the driver from the hardware manufacturer has been WHQL approved
(which most are), it's been tested and signed by Microsoft.

The driver updates on Windows Update, are just that "drivers" they don't
have the control panels and other features that drivers from the hardware
manufacturer's site may have.

It's not Microsoft's responsibility to host drivers for everyone.

that above quote.
MS supplies the same identical drivers AFTER they
have been deemed fully compatible with the os. If I
happened to find the drivers were older, and everything
was working right, then I wouldn't replace the drivers.
However, if I went to MS because they had a problem,
and they had a driver download that seemed to address
my problem, I would (and have) download it.
There's nothing wrong with going to the NVidia web
site to get updates, in fact I've done that too, but
.... you have to realize that if MS isn't offering them
yet, it's because their compatability hasn't been
tested; it's a little like prototype software but not
that drastic, w/r to MS operating systems.

Your advice is the dumb one. Most knowledgeable people will ALWAYS recommend
using drivers from the manufactures site. MS driver are always dumbed down
and do not include all the features available.

WU is justly famous for dodgy driver updates, esp. video. They are
frequently well out of date and it's nothing to do with WHQL.

That's incorrect, what is supplied at Windows Update as has been previously
stated are basic drivers that generally do not support all the functions of
the hardware. Even at Windows Update, when you select a driver, the
additional information about the driver usually confirms this information
and advises the user that they may need to get drivers directly from the
manufacturer in order to implement all the features supported by the device.

LOL! The only fool is the French Fool you see in the mirror in the
mornings.
MS supplies the same identical drivers AFTER they

ROFL! I have an ATI AIW 9700 pro video card. The latest driver that MS
hosts for it was issued in December of 2003 and is 3.19MBs in size. The
latest driver on the ATI sight was issued April 7th of 2004 and is 27.7MBs
in size. So please explain to everyone how MS's driver is "the same
identical drivers" as the one issued by ATI, Frenchie!

If I
happened to find the drivers were older, and everything
was working right, then I wouldn't replace the drivers.
However, if I went to MS because they had a problem,
and they had a driver download that seemed to address
my problem, I would (and have) download it.

That's the French mentality for you.

PSML! 3.19MB = 27.7MB. Only a Frenchman can be so innane!

LOL! Your so blissful, you are incapable of understanding that MS only
hosts video driver with their balls cut off.

That's not my URL Frog-for-brains.
=== I bet you're proud to be so scummy, aren't you?

Nope. I only changed 3 letters of MS's name. CUM. That way I figuratively
get to cum over MS's name.
Have patience though; someday there will be a cure for
those loos sphincters around your lips.

Huh? Do you have much eXPerience with "loos (sic) sphincters?"

Yeah? Interesting comment from such a moron.

I believe you'll find that MS has admitted, recently, that some update
drivers were faulty/corrupt.
It was either nvidia or silicon image drivers.
