Hey there, I'm running WinXP Pro, SP1, My computer is up to date (minus SP2,
which I don't want to install), but I have this windows update icon in the
lower right by the clock. It won't disapear, I can't click on it, close it
etc... it reads 0% progress when I just place the mouse over top. And there's
never any progress, and I can't get rid of it. Any ideas? Thanks for your
help! -Geoff

Yes, just go to control panel and then click on automatic updates. Select
"turn off automatic updates"

I wouldn't recommend you turn it off, its running Windows Update
Automatically in the background. Yes, it can be turned off by Right clicking
My Computer > Properties > Automatic Updates.

I'm so use to doing my own updates. I forget the everyday user forgets. Yes
automatic updates is ok to have on if you don't do manual updates.
