Windows Update failure

I received a notification that there was an update ready to install ( 1 item,
0kb,download time 0 mins). Clicked the icon in systray and chose "install".
It went through the motions but failed to install, error code 8007005. I
managed to find a KB article describing the symptom, but it stated that the
cause was failure to accept the EULA. (KB885836) No EULA was offered during
the attempted install, so what can be the cause?

Also noticed that in C:\WINDOWS\ there is an entry in blue
$NtUninstallKB885836$,which I take to mean that KB885836 is already
installed, so if that's the case, why the notification in the systray?
