Windows Update Installation failures

Hi all,
I've been having the installation failure of critical an non critical
updates on the windows update website. I have tried various troubleshooting
techniques here in this newsgroup, to no avail. I came across this file
"WindowsUpdateAgent20-x64.exe". Is this file supposed to reinstall windows
update onto my pc? Should I install this file to reinstall the windows update
files and maybe fix the install failure problems of updates?

If it is an update prob, then join the hundreds here in the
public.windowsupdates group - but you give little info re what you
downloaded/installed when and from where and for how long you have had the
prob - are you XP + SP1/SP2
Sorry if you have already been into the update group - you do not say.
I fear that to get help you will need a bit more info.
