Windows Task Manager doesn't stay open

I have a relatively Dell Notebook with Windows XP.
Now when I do Ctrl-Alt-Del, the Task Manager Window pops up then quickly
goes away. I have also tried accessing Windows Task Menu from the menu bar,
etc... but always end up with the same result.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
