Windows Shuts Down Improperly

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor, 512mb, 120G that is six months old.
I am using 11% of my hard drive space. I use EZtrust antivirus, Spyblaster,
Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy, MS antispyware, CCleaner and Windows
Cleanup. I have never detected anything but negligable objects since I've
had the PC. However, whenever I try to edit a picture, Windows shuts down
improperly and it will happen over and over as long as I am trying to work
with pictures. For instance, I currently have four JPG's I am trying to edit
and Windows has gone down so many times I have discontinued my attempts. I
just tried to play a simple online game though Yahoo and Windows shut down
three times. It seems all I can do is use the browser and email without
problems. Any suggestions?

I should add my system updates are current. I've read where this can be a
driver problem and/or hardware problem?
