wont shut down

When I try to shut down, the computer freezes when it reaches "windows is
shutting down". I have to manually shut down.
 
Jennifer, I'm experience a similar problem. Maybe we can find a solution
that will be mutually beneficial. I have multiple users, and more often than
not, users can't log off. It just leaves the desktop active as if you had
not told it to log off. We can keep each other updated on results. I have
tried using a software package "Defender Pro 5 in one - 2007", but I still
have the problem after running the utilities in this package.

Close all programmes and select Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up Task
Manager and click Applications. What are listed as running?

What are your anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall arrangements?
