Windows XP Windows Security Update Problem...

I have a genuine verison of Windows XP SP2 - My Security updates refuse to complete... I have been working on this problem for a while now... I am now up to 78 security updates that are failing... I have visited the windows supprot websites - I have tried a couple tips of changing codes via DOS... I have also validated my Windows Several times, It is saying it is Genuine, and tried reloading and repairing windows with the CD - Nothing is working...

I also downloading Windows Defender hoping that would help - and I am getting the error code 0x80004002 and it won't download the definitions...

Windows XP SP2
Dell Inspirion 6000 Laptop
Running AVG Virus Protection
Adaware - Spybot
Mozilla Browser

You could try this as an alternative to MS update . Are you getting this problem after doing a fresh install of the OS .
