Windows Security Center/Alerts Conflict with Norton AV 2002

Hello fellow techies:

I installed Windows XP SP2 for my Windows XP Professional
System. I am very pleased with the added functionality
to the firewall and the addition to IE of the pop-up
blocker among other things.

I am having an issue with Windows Security Center. It
reflects that my Windows Firewall and Automatic Updates
are on and green but the Virus Protection is in "check
status" mode. I am stumped. Reason being is that I am
using the most popular anti-virus solution available,
Norton Antivirus 2002. I had just did a fresh install of
Windows XP Professional and Norton Antivirus 2002 along
with running and acquiring all the newest virus
definitions. Norton's auto-protect is also enabled along
with email scanning and script blocking. I also just ran
a full system scan.

I do realize I can choose to monitor the antivirus
program myself in Windows Security Center, but I like to
fully utilize the new feature of SP2.

Any help greatly appreciated!

I found the issue:

"Installing Service Pack 2 will not affect Norton
AntiVirus. The Windows Security Center will be aware that
you have Norton AntiVirus installed, but it will not be
able to determine its working status due to Symantec's
tamper-protection technology.

Your Norton security products contain tamper protection
features that prevent malicious code from determining
their status. This tamper protection also prevents the
Windows Security Center from determining the status of
your Norton security products. Shortly after Microsoft
releases Service Pack 2, Symantec will make a correction
available through LiveUpdate. This correction will allow
the Windows Security Center to correctly identify the
status of your Norton security products." -- Symantec

Only users of NAV 2004 and the upcoming 2005 will have
the solution to this issue.
