Windows Security and Administration

Hi,

This is Freddy working in organisation called "Writer Corporation".

We have recently purchased ten Laptops which we are going to send to the
users of our different branches. All the Laptops have Windows XP
(Professional) preinstalled.

We want to send these Laptops with certain restrictions for e.g.
a. Serial Port, USB port, PCMCIA slot (Disabled).
b. Restrict installation of any Software.
c. Restrict change of IP addresses.
and so on.

All the above stated restriction is been achieved by disabling the ports and
services in Administrator login.

After, all these restriction we have provided Users Login with Power User
Privileges.
This way we have achieved all the above stated restriction.

Now, the problem which I am facing here is that My Boss wants me to open the
rights to users to change IP address of their individual Laptops.

As I have given only Power User rights to User login, where they can only
access there login Desktop and can able to change time, but not able to
change IP address for their Laptop.

How can I open rights only to change IP address and keep all the other
restriction intact.

Is anyone out there who can help me in this?

Thanking you in anticipation........

Regards

Try adding the user to the network configuration operators group on their
computer. To prevent them from doing everything network related you can use
Group Policy/user configuration/administrative templates/network/network
connections to fine tune their access to network configuration. --- Steve
