Windows recognizes optical drive, however won't run any disks...

Hi all,

Whenever I click on my internal optical drive, I get a message that states
"Please instert a disk in drifve D".

Windows recognizes the drive when I go into properties, and the
troubleshooter states that the device is working properly. I've also tried
every type of media imaginable from DVDs to CD-Rs to no avail. Also, I do
have an external USB drive that works fine.

I've even tried installing another verified drive and have the same problem.
Also, I've tried uninstalling the driver and rebooting to allow windows to
re-install the driver. When I reboot, windows recognizes the new drive and
installs the driver, however I still can't open a CD or DVD of any type.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone might be able to provide.
