windows not recognizing ipod anymore

I've had an IPOD for months and never had any problem with my dell latitude
laptop running windows 2000. I've tried everythign to fix the probelm
including buying a new firewire card, uninstalling and reinstalling ipod and
itunes software. There are lots of otehr people having the same problem (they
are posting on the ipod support site). I think there is a probelm with on e
of the recent Windows updates. My computer is set up to do automatic updates
and I don't know if something has been installed that has disale my computers
ability to see the IPOD. Please help!

Does the firewire show up in device manager? Do you get any error messages
at all? Does anything else work in the firewire card?
