ipod problem

when i plug my ipod up to the computer the ipod charges BUT my itunes does
not recognize that it is plugged in. therefor i cannot update my ipod. i dont
know if its a computer problem or a problem with my ipod but i really need
help

One of the iPod/Apple/iTunes forums would be of better assistance.

They'd probably want to know your software and player versions.

What make of computer are you using? Toshiba lap top does not recognize iPod -
will download the iTunes info but that is it. Had to download everything to
my desktop(which is another make), then was able to use iPod. Have you
configured the iPod to the computer?

Also make sure you download music to a folder and copy to iTunes as iTunes
will not transfer to anything but the iPod - in other words, do not make
iTunes your music catch-all if you want to attach music to an e-mail. For
additional info go to an Apple forum, they are really helpful.
