windows media player is crackly on an win98 upgrade to xp

I think I have a soundblaster sound card, kinda old (2000).
Any idea why this is happening. It's occuring when I
watch a wmp video on the web, and it doesn't happen with
quicktime or real media. Can't figure it out.

How do I determine exactly which soundcard I have.
