soundblaster awe64 and xp

Laura

I just upgraded to XP and get no audio playback. As in
another question, none of the devices seem to work,
winamp, windows media player etc. My sound worked fine
before the upgrade. I have a Soundblaster awe64.....it is
old but worked fine. Am I going to have to upgrade? I
have reinstalled the card, and drivers, together and
separately. I went to change the play controls as
explained in the Soundblaster Live! knowledge base
article, but the play control is not there for earlier
soundcards.

Thanks,
laura

Hello

I would remove all drivers for the soundcard and let xp try to
find it ok. Once your prompt for driver you should be able to
download the most current drivers from www.creativelabs.com
ok. You may have to repalce it but you should .

You need to go www.creative.com website, see if new
updated drivers (for XP) are available for your type
soundcard,if not replace it with a new XP compatible
sound card sound blaster cards reasonably priced.
try Soundblaster Live or Audigy..
